What should I put in my beard?
When Should I Use Beard Oil vs. Beard Butter vs. Beard Balm?

Some of the most frequent questions I get asked center around product choices.

“What’s the difference between beard butter and beard balm?”

“My beard itches. What should I use?”

“Is beard butter inherently better than beard oil?”

Don’t overthink it too much. Luckily, the answer is simple – Just go with the product that has the properties you want your beard to have. This post will summarize the differences between beard oil, beard butter, and beard balm & when you should use each. You can find out more about each type of product in their own individual posts linked above.

1. Beard Oil

  • Typically for use when growing out your beard.
  • Made of a carrier oil base with nutrients for healthy beard growth and easy beard management.
  • Crafted to moisturize the hair follicles of your beard as well as the skin underneath. This helps prevent dreaded beardruff while promoting healthy growth.
  • Helps tame flyaway hairs. Lays down your beard fluff to reduce the messy beard look.
  • Nutrients in beard oil help your beard grow longer, faster, and healthier.
  • Tames inflammation from pores. This is a particularly important benefit if you have sensitive skin or suffer from irritation in your beard stubble.
  • Comes in a variety of different scents to match to your scent profile

Many men decide that they don’t need product to keep their beard tamed, but beard oils are meant to help provide key nutrients to your beard. They increase the growth of your beard and work to eliminate irritation as your grow. Perhaps most importantly, beard oils moisturize the skin underneath your hair follicles, allowing them to fight off beardruff before it even begins!

Recommended usage: Take about 4-5 drops of beard oil and spread it out on your fingers. Run your fingers through your beard, deep into the hairs and onto your skin underneath. Do this daily after your shower or as part of your morning routine.

I adore the challenge of creating truly modern clothes, where a woman’s personality and sense of self are revealed. I want people to see the dress, but focus on the woman. I do not have one theme for each season, I just try to make beautiful clothes all year round. Fashion can be this mysterious thing that you can’t explain. I am convinced that there can be luxury in simplicity. I have my favourite fashion decade, yes, yes, yes: ’60s. It was a sort of little revolution; the clothes were amazing but not too exaggerated.
